You folks need to watch "The Making of THGTTG", which is widely available,
both at Blockbuster places and for sale in video stores. This was done
10+ years after the TV series.
There's some up-to-date graphics to show you what might be done today,
even a bit of a story. (I won't spoil it for you).
Many of the things you complain about are explained.
a) They admit that voice Trillian uses was the director's mistake,
not the actresses (she offered to do a British accent).
b) The graphics were drawn by HAND by one animator. No computer at all.

If you think the TV production was cheesy, you've obviously never watched
Dr. Who.
